15 When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. 17 After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. 18 All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. 20The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.

I talked about these verses on Talkin' Scripture this past week. I wanted to touch on them again, because I know that not everyone listens to the broadcast (though I think you should!).
The shepherds had a visit from the angels of Heaven, announcing to them the birth of Jesus, the Messiah. When the angels returned to Heaven, the shepherds said, "Let us go to Bethlehem! Let's see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." Verse 16 tells us, "They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger." Not only did the shepherds listen to the call of God, but they hurried to do it. That fascinates me. Why? I'm going to speak on a personal level here. Many times, I've heard God telling me something, something to do, something to teach. Sometimes I listen to the voice, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I hurry and do what He's called, sometimes I don't. Is it the same way with you? The shepherds heard the message, and they hurried to see what was revealed to hem with their own eyes.
Verse 17 says, "After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel said to them about this child." The shepherds were so excited at seeing what was revealed to them, that they went out and told everyone else. Do we do this today? Do we go out and spread what we've read in the Bible with those around us?

As we start to gather with friends and family to celebrate Christmas, let us not forget that we have a responsibility. Many of us have homes and trees decorated with Santa Claus trinkets. That's a fun part of Christmas. But we must never forget that Christmas isn't about Santa, the gifts under the tree, or anything like that. Christmas is about the love of God, proved by the gift in the manger. We have a responsibility to share that love with others. Are you fulfilling your responsibility? Think About It.
