Have You Praised God Today?

13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.
-Psalm 135:13 (KJV)

Have you praised God this day? That is what many of the Psalms are, praises to God. Praise should be part of our daily walk. Praise should be on our lips, we should be praising God all day long. But, if you're like me, praise is seldom, and my focus is rarely on God and His will for my life. Hey, I'm being real here. If you take a deep, hard look at your life, would you find that you praise God, or would you see your lack of praise to Him?

The writer of this Psalm tells us to praise God in several verses. Verse 1 says, " Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord." If you've given your life to the Lord, then you are to praise Him. You are a servant of the Lord, and we must praise Him. Verse 3 says, "Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant." Praise the Lord because He is good. Whether you admit it or not, or whether you realize it or not, God is good to each of us. I remember a call to worship that a Pastor I had used to say. "God is good all the time. All the time God is good." Even when our life seems to be crashing down all around us, God is good. Even when God seems distant in our lives, God is good. The Psalmist says the we must praise the Lord because He is good. But, there is more to that verse. "sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant." It is pleasing to God when we praise Him, but it also benefits us as well. When we turn our focus from the bad and evil going on around us to God, then the things going on around us seem to fade. God comes in and takes the bad things and replaces them with His goodness. Have you experienced this? I have, and it is awesome to be in the very presence of God, allowing Him to bring comfort and safety into my life.

Verse 13 says, "Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations." The name of the Lord endures forever. The name of the Lord is proclaimed out of the mouths of His people. Have you praised Him today? Do you need to change your focus from your problems, onto His praise? Think About It.
