Worthless Religion

10 As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11     there is no one who understands;
    there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
    they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
    not even one.”
13 “Their throats are open graves;
    their tongues practice deceit.”
“The poison of vipers is on their lips."
14     “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16     ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”
18     “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Paul is quoting several verses from Psalms and Ecclesiastes. Paul is making a point that all of us are sinners needing a Savior. These verses clearly speak of our day and age.

Verse 10 says, "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God." Does anyone really, truly, seek God any more? Many of us are content with going to church on Sunday, and then going on like we've done before. We're complacent. We're content with giving God some shallow worship and then living like we want to live. Verse 12 says, "All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." In yesterday's post, I wrote a Scripture from John 16 where Jesus reveals that the disciples will leave Him alone. We do it, even to this day. It seems we only know where God is when we need something. Other than that, we just give God some shallow worship and a pathetic piece of prayer. Verse 18 reads, "There is no fear of God before their eyes." Many people today have no fear of God, no reverence of God. We look at Him as some "grandpa" in the sky. But He is the Creator of this world, and we must look at God with respect and love.

Friends, look to this list today. Repent of any part of your life that goes along with what Paul quoted here. Commit to seeking God, commit to doing the good things that God has told you to do. Think About It.
