Principles To Live By: Jesus Lives In You

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
-Galatians 2:20

We've been studying about what it means to be crucified with Christ the past couple of days. Today, I want to move to another part of this verse.

Even though Paul is crucified with Christ, he goes on to say, "nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me." Paul is giving us an important lesson here. Even though we still live our lives, Jesus lives in each one of us. Paul gave his life doing what God had called him to do. He crucified the old life, the sins and sin nature with Jesus on the cross. Now, he continues to live, but Jesus lives in him, and you and me as well. Even though we still go through times of trial and temptation, Jesus lives in us, and will help us get through anything life throws at us. That's part of the work of the Holy Spirit. Prior to His ascension, Jesus told His disciples, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)" It was going to take power for them to be the witnesses of Jesus. They (the disciples) would face persecution, become martyrs and be ridiculed for their faith. Yet, through the Holy Spirit, they would receive the power they needed to fulfill their calling.

That same power is in you and me today. We have the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit gives us that same power to be His witnesses to our generation. The question is, are you allowing that power to flow through you? For those who have given their lives to Christ, Jesus lives in you. When life seems to be spiraling out of control, Jesus is with you. You don't have to try and live the Christian life on your own, Jesus is there. Are you ready to allow that power from God to flow through your life? Think About It.
