The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
-Psalm 53:1-3 (King James Version)
Is it just me, or does it seem that our world is pulling away from God? It seems that people are preaching a tolerance for all things, except Jesus. The world seems like it is trying to eradicate that name of Jesus from everyone and everything. I think these verses from Psalm 53 describe our generation today.
There are so many people who challenge the name of Jesus. Many people, including prominent "Christian" ministers, are teaching that there are multiple ways to Heaven. Jesus said in John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." That is is, no one goes to the Father without Jesus. There is no multiple paths to Heaven. There is one. And that One is called Jesus.
Look at the words of Psalm 53:1. Who is it that says there is no God? The fool. The person who preaches that there is no God is nothing more than a fool. Think about who the world classifies as a fool. Someone who doesn't believe the truth. Someone who acts out of ignorance. Someone who is just plain stupid. The fool who says there is no God doesn't want to find the truth. They don't want to believe the truth. I believe that it takes more faith to believe in a lie like the "big bang theory" than it does to believe in the Divine Creator-God.
Look at the words of verse 2. God looks down to see if there were any that seek God. Friends, make no mistake about it, God is not hiding. Who was it that was hiding when sin entered the world? Adam and Eve. Why were they hiding? Because the broke the command of God not to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree. They knew the truth, but they acted out of their own selfishness. Are we seeking God today? More importantly, am I seeking God. Ask yourself that question. Do we really want more of God in our lives?
Finally, look at verse 3. Scripture says that all have gone back. Isn't that what happens to us? We have some kind of revival experience where we proclaim Christ, draw close to Him, and then return to what we did before. If you look at John 21:3, we see that after Jesus was crucified, after he appeared to the disciples, they went back to what they did before Christ. They went back to fishing. They went back.
My dear friend, do you consistently seek Jesus in your life? Do you seek to have more of Jesus and less of yourself in your life? Think About It.
