If you are friends with me on Facebook, I posted Proverbs 10:9 to my status this morning. That verse challenged me, and I hope you as well, because it speaks about the way we walk. It speaks about the way we live our lives. Some of us are authentic, what you see is what you get. Others seem to be living behind a facade. They act one way when they are around Christians and fellow churchgoers, and another when they are around friends and coworkers. Look at what this verse says.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. (KJV)
I have to ask the question: How are you walking today? To walk uprightly means that you walk with integrity, you are walking in the correct posture. In other words, your walk and your talk line up. The way you live your life goes along with the faith you claim to have. Lets look at the opposite side of this. Solomon, the writer of this Proverb, says that if you perverteth your ways, you will be known. Other translations say about crooked paths. Kind of like how you walk if you are ducking under a ladder. You're not in the correct posture, and you are walking deceivingly. In other words, your walk and your talk don't line up. You look over your shoulder to make sure no one from church will see you walking into the nightclub.
Look, again at this verse. If you walk uprightly (with integrity, in the correct posture), you will walk surely, or confidently. You'll walk that way because you are in the correct posture to hear from God, and act on your faith. If you walk crooked, you walk in a deceptive way, not able to hear from God, and not able to act on your faith. Again I ask you, How are you walking today?
