Faith And Love

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
-Matthew 22:37-40 (NLT)

A good friend has asked me to co-host with him on his radio broadcast this weekend, and I'm looking forward to it. As I was preparing for the broadcast, I was studying about love, and why it is so important to our Christian life. I think the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40 sums it up well.

Jesus said that you "must love the Lord  your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind." Jesus said we must love God with everything, every part of us, with our whole being. Do you? He goes on to say, "This is the first and greatest commandment." Above all else, we are to love the Lord our God with our whole being. Is this possible in our world today? In Chattanooga, TN, there are murders by the day, so hatred runs deep in our world today. Hold on, as Jesus gives more. "A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself." Now it's starting to hurt. Again, is this possible in our hateful world today? I still think it is.

Here is why. I really think that faith and love work together. Faith and love are verbs, which means they require action. When our faith grows, so does our love. When faith gets stagnant and quits growing, so does our love. If you want your love for God and for others to grow, then your faith must grow as well. Faith and love grows when you put them into action. Is your faith growing today? Is your faith proven by your actions? Think About It.
