Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
-Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT)
If you've given your life to Jesus, then you are a new person. We've been talking a lot about our walk with Jesus lately. What I want to ask you this day is this: What do you have your sights set on? What things capture your attention? What things come to the forefront of your thoughts?
Verse 1 says, "Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place on honor at God's right hand." As Christians, Heaven should be at the forefront of your mind. We need to put on the mind of Christ. Then, we can see things from His perspective. Since we've been "raised to a new life with Christ" that should lead us to put the old things, our old ways, our old thought patterns away. Verse 3 says, "For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God." We died to this life on earth. Our old ways, our sin nature has been nailed to the cross. Since we have been raised to a new life, the old life has died.
What do you have your sights set on today? Verse 2 says "Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth." As you go through today, why not focus on the things of Heaven, and take your focus off the things of this earth. Think About It.
