Our Lives

24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
-Matthew 16:24-26 (KJV)

We deny Jesus in our lives and in our lifestyle. Too often, people have the attitude "It's my life and I'll do what I want with it." That is a wrong attitude to have. We are the creation of God, our lives are a gift from God. When you accept the salvation offered by the sacrifice of Jesus, you become a child of God. To be a Christian means to give up your wants and your desires to do the will of God and His desire for your life. You know what I've found? I find it is more fulfilling and rewarding to do God's will for my life than my own.

Jesus said in Matthew 16:24-26, "24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" What Jesus is teaching us is that we need to surrender our lives to Him. He doesn't mean a physical losing of life, but a spiritual losing of life. We need to give your lives to God, otherwise, we will lose it. Is Jesus saying that making something out of your life is a  bad thing, something that is against His teachings? No, not at all. I think He is teaching us that we need to have our lives centered on the will of God for our lives. For some people, building a great, profitable company is the will of God for that person. For others, living in a modest home with enough food to eat and money to spend is the will of God. It becomes a sin when we pursue our riches instead of pursuing God.

Jesus said in Matthe w6:19-21, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Jesus is teaching us that we need to store up our treasures in Heaven. We need to sow seeds into the good ground of the soil of God. Too often, people have the idea that "I made the money, and I'm going to spend it how I want." Jesus taught us to put our treasures in Heaven. Banks can be robbed, homes can be robbed, money invested can fly away when the stock market falls. But, none of these have an effect on our treasures stored up in Heaven.

I don't know about you, but i would rather lose my life on earth, and receive it in the Kingdom of Heaven. We deny Jesus each and every time we do our own will instead of the will of God for our lives. Are you following the will of God for your life? Think About It.
