Our Love

1 Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
-Ephesians 5:1-2 (NLT)

We have spent the past two days studying about the love God has for each of us. Today, I want to look at the love we should have towards others. Love is central to our life in Christ, but too often, it is put on the back burner. In our society today, love is something that is earned, instead of given. Let's look into it.

In verse 1, Paul says, "Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children." We need to be followers of God. A follower imitates the person he follows. We need to do the work of God in our world. We must do the things He does, we must follow His call on our lives. In all things that we do. What kind of impression will people receive of God if all they ever know or see about Him comes from you?

In verse 2, Paul teaches, "Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God." If we truly love others, if we truly live a life of love, we will be following the example of Christ. Jesus laid down His life for you and me. He did it out of love, because we could never make it to Heaven on our own. He did it out of love. What are you doing for others-out of your love for them?

If we really imitated God, if we really follow Him, if we really live a life of love, if we really followed the example of Christ, think of how different our world would be. Are you following God today? Can others see it? Are you living a life filled with love? Can others see it? Think About It.
