Thankful For Our Deliverance

14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
-Colossians 1:14 (KJV)

We've been studying the past couple of days about things we should be thankful for, as Paul writes about in Colossians 1:12-14.

Paul writes in verse 14, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." The word redemption means to be delivered from sin. Yesterday we were thankful for being rescued from sin. Today, we need to be thankful for being delivered from sin. Rescued means to be saved from a dangerous or distressing situation. We were saved from the dangers of sin. This teaches us that we are no longer in sin, that we have been saved from sin. Verse 14 teaches us that we are now being delivered from sin. This means that we are handed over from our life of sin to our new life in Jesus, through His blood. When a mail carrier delivers the mail, they take it from their mailbag and put it into your mailbox. This is a picture of our life before and after Jesus. When you accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you are taken out of your life of sin (the mailbag) and placed into your new life in Jesus (the mailbox). You are delivered from your life of sin. Amen!

Do you need something to be thankful for today? Be thankful that through Jesus, you can be delivered from your life of sin. Have you taken that free gift of salvation? Think About It.
