The Lighthouse

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.
-Psalm 18:2 (NLT)

I have a print of a painting in my bathroom at home that has this verse on it. It's a picture of a lighthouse on the beach. I like lighthouses, and I like the old gospel song, The Lighthouse. I never really thought a whole lot about the words of this verse, until yesterday. As I was looking at the print, the words just jumped out at me.

"The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety." David is giving us a glimpse of the power of God. God does so much for you and me, but most of it goes unnoticed. God is my rock, meaning that He is the foundation of my life. Our lives are built on something, our needs to be built on Him. God is my fortress, meaning that He is our place of safety. When we abide in Him, He protects us from evil. God is my Savior, meaning that, through Jesus, I can have eternal life. Over the course of the next few days, I want to look at each one of these thoughts a little deeper.

Make the words of Psalm 18:2 your verse today. Praise God for the things He has done in your life. Think About It.
