What Are You Following?

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
-First John 2:24 (KJV)

What was it that drew you to Jesus? What was it that made you realize that you needed a Savior? Many of us were not won to Jesus by some deep, analytically challenged sermon. Many of us were drawn to Jesus by the simple presentation of the Gospel. That, the Gospel message, is what we must remain in.

More often than not, we allow "things" to side track our relationship with Jesus. Many of these "things" are nothing more than doctines taught by man. Many of those "things" are not found in the Gospel. John teaches us, in verse 24, to "Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning." Abide in the Gospel, the teaching of the Good News about Jesus Christ. The benefit? "If that which ye heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father." The Gospel, if we remain in the Gospel, we remain in the Son, and we remain in the Father. Are you following the Gospel, or are you following a doctrine taught by man? Think About It.
