Corrupt Communication

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
-Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)

On Tuesday's Talkin' Scripture broadcast, we were talking about how we must share the Word of God through our speech, our service, and our separation from the sin world. We spent the most time speaking about our speech. We must use our speech in an authentic way. We cannot say how much we love God, and then speak false things about our neighbor. Paul address this in Ephesians 4:29.

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Paul tells us that we must not let corrupt communication come from us. Other translations use the words "filthy talk." In other words, what we speak should build others up. That is what the word edifying means. Our speech should build others up. I have a friend on Facebook whose ministry is called "building up." If we have corrupt communication coming out of our mouths, how are we building up others? We are not. When corrupt communication comes out of our mouths, we are doing the exact opposite of building others up. We are tearing others down.

What is coming out of your mouth today? Does your speech build others up, or does it tear them down? Think About It.
