Hold On!

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
-Second Timothy 1:13-14 (KJV)

There are a lot of false teachings and false teachers in our world today. It was a problem, as well, in the time of Paul and Timothy. Throughout his letters to Timothy, Paul warns him of false teachings and false teachers and the dangers they possess. The same thing is true of our time today. Why is that? I think the answer is that most people don't want to hear the truth, they want to hear a form of the truth. It's time that we, as Christians, stand up for the truth. That is what Paul is telling Timothy here.

Second Timothy 1:13 says, "Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus." Paul is reminding Timothy to stay true to the teachings of Paul. To stay true to the truth that was taught to him by Paul. Undoubtedly, Paul invested much time in Timothy, teaching him the things he'd need as a preacher. Timothy would be facing hard times, times when people challenged his message, challenged his knowledge, challenged him in the things of God. Paul told him to "hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me," Paul told him to hold on to the the true words. And then, Paul reminded him where who he has heard them from. Timothy could trust, and know, that what Paul taught him was the truth.

Are you holding on to the true teaching of the Word of God? Or are you chasing after a form of the truth? Think About It.
