For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
-2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
We've been talking about fear this week. Many people struggle with fear. We are fearful of many things. We may not eat certain foods because we fear we may get cancer. We have a fear of death. We have a fear or losing a loved one, or a fear of being alone. Many people have a fear of public speaking. The list can go on and on. But, is fear something that we, as Christians, should have in our lives. I don't think so.
Paul writes, in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Fear is not something that God has given us. When we fear something, we are showing God that we really don't trust Him. Did you ever think about that? I said earlier that many people have a fear of public speaking. And many people use that fear as an excuse for not witnessing and sharing their faith with others. When we fail to do what God has called us to do, because of fear, we are showing that we don't trust God, that we don't believe He can do things. Woe to the person who believes that.
Part of Hebrews 13:5 says, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Friends, God will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He will not let you hanging, trying to do things on your own. Do you really trust God, today? If fear is keeping you from doing what God's called you to do, then you are proving that you don't trust God. Think About It.
