Light of Love

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
-John 1:4-5 (KJV)

The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
-John 1:4-5 (NLT)

As we move closer to Christmas, and celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, many more people seem open to hearing the Gospel. In John 1, John uses the word Word to signify Jesus. He also uses the word Light to represent Jesus and life. He uses the word Darkness to represent sin and death.

Verse 4-5 says "In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." John teaches us that in Jesus, we have life. That life lights the path that we take in life, it lights the path to God. The path to life shines into our sinful life, into the darkness of sin. The problem is, too often we ignore the light and go deeper and deeper into sin. Look, though, at verse 5 in the New Living Translation, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." Sin can never put out the light of the love of God. Even when we try and ignore it.

Are you ignoring the light of the love of God? Think About It.
