Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
-John 14:6 (King James Version)
We've discovered, this week, some of the ways that Jesus walked. He walked in love, in service and in obedience. He also walked in the truth. In the beginning of John 14, Jesus is teaching His disciples about Heaven, and where He is returning to, and where they would be one day.
John 14:6 says, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Jesus is the only way, the only way that you or I can make it to Heaven. It is a fact, it's the blunt truth. Man will continue, as he always had, to try and invent other ways to Heaven. The reason is, is that we really don't want to hear the truth. We like our version of the truth, something we really want to hear. We like to "tickle the ears" and only say or hear what we want to hear or what we want to say. The truth is: apart from Jesus, we are nothing, and we will never enter into the glory of God.
Jesus told the truth, even when others didn't believe it, or want to hear it. One of my favorite TV shows is Seinfeld. The character George Costanza is a noted liar. He revealed to Jerry the secret to telling a lie. "It isn't a lie if you believe it." You know, upon looking at the state of our world, and the society we live in, I believe George. How many lies are being told each and every day, and received as the gospel truth? This, my friends, is the truth: Without Jesus, you will not make it to Heaven, you will perish in Hell. Take that to the bank. Think About It.
