Thinking

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
-First Corinthians 10:12 (King James Version)

Last week, we spent some time looking at Proverbs 30. We looked at the generation that thinks they are right with God, when actually they are still infested and controlled by sin. I still believe that these verses (Proverbs 30:11-14) point to our generation today. Paul writes about this in First Corinthians 10:12.

"Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." Paul is teaching that what was recorded and written about the journey to the Promised Land for the nation of Israel was written for our instruction and our admonition. It's easy for us, some 6000 plus years later, to judge them for their mistakes, for their lack of trust in God. In reality, though, our mistakes and our lack of trust in God is exactly the same. Why? Because we are still controlled by sin. Like what we studied in Proverbs 30, we think we are pure, we think we are right with God, when in reality, we're not. In reality we are still dirty with sin.

Paul teaches us that we need to be careful. We may think we are standing right with God, but we can fall away quickly and easily. I believe the key word in this verse is the word "thinketh." We think we are right with God, but if we let sin, it's desires, it's lusts control our lives, then we are not right with God. Think About It.
