Don't Ignore Jesus!

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
-Hebrews 12:25 (King James Version)

In Hebrews 12:14-28, the writer is focusing our attention to listening to God. He is illustrating how Israel heard God in thunder, flashes of lightening on Mount Sinai. He also illustrates how we can come directly to God, through Jesus. He then reveals something vital to our faith in verse 25.

"See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven." He warns us not to ignore Jesus, not to ignore the Holy Spirit that reminds us what Jesus has taught. In today's culture, we get so mixed up in unimportant things of Scripture, while ignoring the big picture. Many people twist and turn Scripture to suit their own beliefs. The writer of Hebrews warns us not to refuse Jesus, not to refuse to listen to His words. He goes on to say, "For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth," In other words, if the nation of Israel did not escape the judgement and wrath of God when they refused to listen to Moses, we will not escape the wrath and judgement of God if we refuse to listen to Jesus. The words of Jesus show us the way to the Father, yet so many of us either refuse to listen, or we try to make His words fit our sinful lifestyle.

Friends, are you listening to the words of Jesus, or are you refusing to allow those words to change your life? Think About It.
