4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
-First Timothy 2:3-6 (King James Version)
Last week, we studied the first two verses, which taught us to pray for our leaders. This, Paul says in verse 3, "is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour." Then, in verse 4, Paul goes on to reveal something significant about God.
"Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." It's not the will of God that anyone go to hell. It's not the will of God that any be lost. Paul teaches that God "will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." God desires each and everyone to come to the knowledge of truth-the truth of our need for a Savior. Then, in verse 5 he says, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." Jesus is our mediator. Jesus is the Truth, we must come to understand that He is the only way to God, Jesus is the way. And then, in verse 6, "Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." Jesus is our ransom, the blood of Jesus pays the sin debt for all who have come to the knowledge of truth, and will be saved.
Have you received Jesus as your Savior today? Think About It.
