But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Being a servant isn't high on many people's list of wants. Many people look at a servant as someone who is weak or unskilled. When we say the word servant, the thoughts of the butler from the TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air comes to mind. Yet, the Word of God provides a different take on a servant. In fact, that is what we are called to do.
Jesus said in verses 43-44, "But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be chiefest, shall be servant of all." Do you want to be great today? Then humble yourself and be a servant to all. These words were spoken by Jesus after James and John asked to be seated at Jesus' right and left hands in Heaven. They knew that Jesus was the Son of God, and they knew that those places, the right and left side, were places of greatness. But Jesus taught us that we must be servants, because that is where true greatness comes from. Who can you serve today? Think About It.
