Are You A People Pleaser?

Instead, just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please men, but rather God, who examines our hearts.
-First Thessalonians 2:4 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Are you a people person? What I mean is, do you look to do things to please others? Sure, I think we all like to make others happy. But, there is one place that you don't want to be a people pleaser. That is in preaching or teaching the Gospel.

This is an epidemic in our society today. Too many preachers and teachers of the Word are more concerned with pleasing man with their lessons and sermons, than pleasing God. Too many preachers and teachers don't want to challenge others with the truth of the Word, and are content with teaching only what is "easy on the ears." The Apostle Paul would have none of that. We read, in First Thessalonians 2:4, "Instead, just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please men, but rather God, who examines our hearts." As the people of God, we have been entrusted with the Gospel. As a preacher, you have been entrusted with the Gospel. The question is, what have you done with it? We, as Christians, have the life giving Word of God. We have the truth of Life. What are we doing with it? We are casting it aside in favor of a watered down, feel good religion that has nothing, gets nothing and is good for nothing.

Friends, what are you doing with the Gospel that has been entrusted to you? Are you seeking to please man, or to please God? Think About It.
