Embarrassed?

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
-Romans 1:16 (King James Version)

Are you ashamed of the Gospel? When you see a painting hanging on a wall showing Jesus on the cross, are you ashamed? I have a friend that I was Facebook chatting with the other day, and we were talking about a Christian production in Pigeon Forge. He said he didn't want to see the show because he can't stand seeing Jesus on the cross. It embarrassed him. I didn't press the issue to see if he's embarrassed because of his sin, or embarrassed because of the bloodied Jesus. If it wasn't for the cross, our sins could never be forgiven. Is the cross a place of embarrassment?

Paul writes in Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also the Greek." The Gospel of Christ is the very power of God to reconcile us to Him. The cross is the place where my sin was dealt with, and yours as well if you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. That power of God is for salvation to EVERYONE who believes. I did a Google search for a definition of the word salvation. Here is what I found: "deliverance from sin and it's consequences."* The Gospel of Christ is the power of God for deliverance from sin and the consequences of sin for all who believe. Isn't that an awesome statement.

Is the Gospel something you are ashamed of? Think About It.
