1After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
-Luke 10:1-2 (KJV)
Evangelism is not a solo sport. For evangelism to be effective, it takes teamwork. Keep in mind, though, not everyone on the team is responsible to be a presenter. True evangelism takes a team, some to present the Gospel, some to pray. Each part of the team is just as important as any other, and cannot exist without the other.
We read in Luke 10:1-2, "1After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." We see here, the teamwork principle in use. Jesus sent out the teams into the area two by two. No solo messengers here. It's the same principle to effectively evangelize as we see in the church setting. There is one church, but it is made up of many different parts. Those different parts have different strengths and abilities and gifts to use for the church. Evangelism works the same way. Everyone is to take part in evangelism. Yet, not everyone has the ability to give an evangelistic presentation. Some are not comfortable talking with people they do not know. While others on the evangelistic team are the speakers, and still others help out in countless other ways.
Look at the words of Jesus in verse 2. "Therefore said he unto them, 'The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.'" Friends, there really is a great harvest waiting to be harvested. The problem is there are not enough laborers. There are not enough of us out there spreading the Gospel. Are you sharing your faith and taking part in the evangelistic outreach? If not, then what are you waiting for? What can you do to help your church outreach team? Think About It.
