Yesterday, we discussed that Jesus died for you and me, while were we still sinners. We talked about how we don't need to "clean ourselves up" before we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. There is still some things we must realize about ourselves, like why we need to be saved. We'll discuss that next week, but I promised yesterday that I'd write about Romans 10:9-10 today. These verses tell us how to be saved. Let's explore.
Romans 10:9-10 ESV
In these two verses of Scripture, Paul teaches us how to be saved. We first must confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord. I heard Billy Graham say one time that you can make Jesus your Savior, and keep Him from being your Lord. That's true. Indeed Jesus is your Savior, He is the One who died to save you from your sins. That is a fact. To be Lord means that He has complete control of your life, that He is your boss. Many people have problems with that. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you need to accept Him as Lord as well. Paul teaches us to confess that Jesus is Lord with your mouth. That is important. By saying it out loud, you're showing those around you that you are serious about your confession. Secondly, you must believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus didn't just die on the cross. He rose from the dead! That is how he conquered sin once and for all. Do you believe those two things? Do you confess, with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord? Do you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead? If so, then let God know it. Confess your sin, and accept Jesus as Lord. Think about it. because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
