YOU Can Overcome The World

If your life is anything like mine, sometimes it just seems that it is spinning out of control, or on a collision course with a brick wall. But, that is the type of society we live in. For many of us, the trials of life weigh us down, and threaten to pull us under. But, be of good hope. For the Christian, we have hope, and we have a help when the going gets tough.

John 16:33 says, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (KJV) I left these words in the color red so that you will realize that these are the words of Christ. Jesus wants you to have peace, He says it right here. But so many people don't want to accept the peace that Jesus offers. If yo look elsewhere in chapter 16 of the Gospel of John, you'll see where Jesus is teaching His disciples about persecution, about the coming of the Holy Spirit, among other things. This led His disciples to be sorrowful. I'm sure they didn't look forward to persecution. After all, do you look forward to persecution? I don't. Plus, Jesus was telling them that He would be leaving them, to make way for the Holy Spirit. This saddened them. Then, after He teaches them these  things, He says thee words.  John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus wants to bring you peace. Look at what else He says. He tells us we shall have tribulation, which means times of trials, times of persecution. He tells them to be of good cheer. At the thought of coming trials and persecution? The reason is at the end of this verse. "I have overcome the world." Jesus has overcome those trials and persecution. Through Him, we can have peace in the midst of our trials of life. Do you want that peace? Then give your life over to Jesus, that is the one and only way to have true peace in your life.

Quite often I find that I give God my problems, only to take them back again. That is not what we need to do. Trust in Jesus for the outcome. I don't know what is going on in your life. But, be of good cheer because Jesus has overcome this present world. And you can have peace through Him. Think about it.
