Safety

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
-Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower
-Psalm 18:2 (KJV)

We're looking at the way David describes the Lord. On Saturday, we looked at how the Lord is our rock, our foundation in life. Today, I want us to focus on the Lord as our fortress.

A fortress is defined in two ways, as found in a Google search for "fortress definition."
  1. A military stronghold.
  2. A heavily protected and impenetrable building.

A fortress is a stronghold that is heavily protected and impenetrable. To be impenetrable means that it cannot be invaded, it cannot be broken into. God cannot be invaded, God cannot be destroyed. God is our fortress, a fortress that offers better security than Brinks or ADT. Proverbs 18:10 says, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." The name of the Lord is our fortress and strong tower. We are safe when we run to God. Have you ran to God for safety? Don't stand in the doorway of the fortress, allow God to protect you from the evil that surrounds us. Think About It.
