Our Strong Tower

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
-Proverbs 18:10 (King James Version)

My Dad and I recently spent a weekend in Kentucky, where we visited Fort Boonesborough State Park in Richmond. It was a great weekend. We toured the fort, and hiked on the trails. As we were hiking on one trail, the trail was primitive. It was narrow, muddy and followed a nice creek. As we were trying to clean the mud off of our shoes, I looked up to the top of the hill, and saw the fort. The picture above is that shot. I thought about the early settlers to this part of Kentucky. How they may have been chased by robbers or even Indians. I thought about how they may have stood in that very spot, and looked up and saw the Fort. What would they have felt? Excitement? Refreshed, because they knew safety was near?

For us as Christians today, we have a place of safety. It's our Lord God. The writer of Proverbs 18 says, " The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." Just the name of our Lord is a strong tower, it's a place of safety. Just like Fort Boonesborough provided safety, so does the name of our Lord. The verse continues, "the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." We know where our safety is. When this world is trying to beat us up, trying to rob us of our joy, we can run to the Lord. He's our fort of safety, and we are safe in Him.

Take comfort, today, in the safety of God. You don't have to face your battles alone. Run to God, and be safe in His arms.Do you have enough faith to trust in Him for your safety?  Think About It.
