For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them, for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
-Romans 1:18-20 (King James Version)
Paul is teaching us some valuable things here. Yesterday we looked at the topic of exchanging the wisdom of God for the wisdom of the world.. We understood that people exchanged their relationship with God, the Creator, to worship the creation and the image of men. Today, we discover that we have no excuse but to know that God exists. Let me explain.
So many people worship things in creation rather than the Creator. Why? Because people find it difficult to put their faith in what they cannot see. Paul is teaching, in these verses, that what may be known of God can be seen in the world, can be seen in creation. While we may not see God physically, we can see Him through what is found outside our window. To believe that all we see just happened to come about by some kind of cosmic explosion (aka The Big Bang Theory) takes more faith to believe than to know that all we see was created by a God who wants a relationship with you.
Paul said in verse 20, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse." The existence of God is clearly seen through the things we can see. To say "there is not God" is just wrong. God is there, God is real. And we have no excuse for not believing He exists because God is clearly seen through the things that are made. When we start believing otherwise, that is when the falling away starts. That is when we start worshiping the creation rather than the Creator. Do you worship the creation instead of the Creator? Think About It.

More Evidence of God
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
2 Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
3 They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.
-Psalm 19:1-4 (New Living Translation)
Many people still are not convinced that this world is a creation by a loving Creator, and not some kind of cosmic accident that just happened to have happened. David writes about the creation and how it speaks of it's Creator.
Verses 1-4 of Psalm 19 says ,"The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world." David is teaching us that the skies proclaim God and His craftsmanship. Vacationers from all over the world visit Key West, Florida and take part in the nightly sunset festival. They gather at the Mallory Square Dock and bid a farewell to the day. Many take pictures of the fabulous sunset, the colors and beauty all point to the Creator. I've come across beautiful pictures of the sun setting into the Gulf of Mexico. I've also came across beautiful pictures of the sun rising over the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The mornings rays of sunlight bring beauty and colors that point to their creator. I remember when I lived in Florida, I picked up a friend to attend a meeting at our church. As we pulled into the parking lot, the sun was setting, and the sky was washed in colors, sunlight was being reflected in the clouds, it was a beautiful sight. I remember my friend saying "The Master Artist is at it again." And he was right. The skies display the craftsmanship and glory of our Creator God.
Each day the skies make known His glory and His craftsmanship. There is beauty in an approaching storm. There is beauty in the clouds, and in the stars at night. There is beauty in the deep blue, cloudless sky. These all point to a Creator. Have you taken time to praise Him for His creation? Could all this beauty point to anything, or anyone else, but a Creator? I don't think so. Think About It.

The Evidence of God
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
-Romans 1:20 (King James Version)
One of the comments that I get from people who read this blog is "How can I really know that God exists?" My answer: Look around you.
For me, it takes more faith to believe that one day some gasses exploded, creating what we see today. For me, it takes more faith to believe that one day a fish decided to it didn't want to be a fish any more and come out to dry land. For me, it takes more faith to believe that , over millions & millions of years, that fish became us. It makes much more sense, for me, to put my faith in the Creation of God. The perfect order of His Creation, Creating land and sea before He created fish and animals. Creating trees & grass before creating you and me. That's what I believe. But, back to the statement above: How can we really, really know that God exists? I believe the answer is found in Romans 1:20.
Paul writes, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" None of us has ever seen God face to face, but we see His existence by the things which He created. The problem people have is that they don't want to believe the truth. Think about it. We want to act like we're in charge, like everything revolves around us. I work to earn a paycheck. I use that paycheck to create my own "little" world. We create false gods who we worship, instead of giving credit to the One who gave us the ability to do our jobs, to earn our living. Paul says "For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen" We see the majesty of God when we look at the mountains. We see the majesty of God when we stand on the mountain peaks looking at the horizon. We see the majesty of God in the waves crashing on the beach. We see the majesty of God when we look at the trees, with their limbs lifted up giving praise to their creator.
Are you so wrapped up in your own "little world" that you fail to recognize the One who created all things? Want proof that God exists? Look out your window. Think About It.

Where Were You?
Who is this that questions my wisdom
with such ignorant words?
3 Brace yourself like a man,
because I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them.
with such ignorant words?
3 Brace yourself like a man,
because I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell me, if you know so much.
5 Who determined its dimensions
and stretched out the surveying line?
6 What supports its foundations,
and who laid its cornerstone
Tell me, if you know so much.
5 Who determined its dimensions
and stretched out the surveying line?
6 What supports its foundations,
and who laid its cornerstone
-Job 38:2-6 (NLT)
In today's reading, is God chastening Job for questioning Him? I don't think so. Instead, I believe God is giving Job a stark reminder. It's a reminder you and I must heed as well.
When things don't go as we expect in our lives, or when we want to go one way, and God wants us to go another, we shake our fist at God and tell Him that we know better than He how to run our lives. We feel we know best. We feel that we know, better than God, what we need. When, in reality, we don't know anything.
In chapters 38-42 of Job, we see God asking Job some pretty serious questions. I want us to focus on just a couple in verses 4-5. "'Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations and who laid its cornerstone?" God is asking Job who designed, measure and built the earth. Certainly not Job. Certainly not you or I. Since God laid the foundation for the everything, and since He laid out the intricate little systems that work together for Him, can't we trust Him with the small details of our lives? What part of your life are you rejecting the control of God in? Think About It.

Fallen Away
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful: but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. AMEN. -Romans 1:21-25 (KJV)
This is a pointed Scripture here. What we see is a picture of people who are either backslid Christians, who are professing their own brand of Christianity, or people that want to believe that God doesn't really exist. Both of these will suffer the wrath of God.
Look at verse 21, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened." This verse gives us the notion that the people Paul was writing about were, at one time, believers. But, they didn't glorify God as God. Maybe they never truly or fully gave their lives to Him. In any way, they didn't glorify God, and they were not thankful. Thankfulness is a vital part of our life as a Christian. You got to take time to notice the ways that God works in your life. Note the small things, and be thankful to God for them. I believe that if we fail to live a life of thankfulness, we will miss some of the greatest blessings of life. As a result of their lack of thankfulness, and because they failed to glorify God as God, their heart was darkened and they became vain in their imaginations. A heart that is dark is not the heart of a Christian. Look at verse 22, " Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." They didn't glorify God as God, but they sure glorified themselves. They claimed to be wise, they claimed to know God and His words, but they truly didn't. Paul says they were not wise, but they became fools.
Verse 23 tells us that in their "wisdom" they exchanged the glory of the uncorruptible God for images made by man. They worshiped the creation rather than the Creator. We can sit here and say what bad people they were for doing things like this, yet one fact remains. We are guilty of this same exact thing. How often do we worship the creation rather than God? How often do we put more faith in what God created than in God Himself? As a result of this, verse 24 teaches us that God gave them up to their own lusts and desires. God let them go, to live the life they wanted, instead of living the life God wanted. Verse 25 reveals their sad state. "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. AMEN." What a sad state for someone to be in . To be a believer at one time, and then fall victim to something like this. It happens to many of us. How many times do we make the truth of God into a lie. There are many false teachers and preachers in our world who constantly turn and twist the Word of God into a lie.
Friends, I challenge you to stay true to the teachings that brought you to Jesus. Get into God's Word, and learn what God says. Then, when you are tempted by false teachings, you'll be able to stay true to faith.
